Everything about this election was predictable. Bernie Sanders called it exactly. Donald Trump would appear ahead early on, with the first ballots counted being the ones from election day. And then, over time, the mail-in votes would flow in crucial states, and eventually states would flip to Joe Biden.

We knew that many mail-in votes would go to Biden. One of the biggest reasons for that trend is Trump’s established hatred for mail-in balloting. He advocated against his supporters using them. Not unrelated, most mail-in votes went to Biden and now Trump will most likely lose the election.

Thursday evening, Trump went on the White House podium and rambled about how pollsters had gotten this election wrong (on that point he isn’t far from the truth) and how this election is corrupt and rigged for Biden. He made up “secret counting rooms” and alleged that the people tasked with watching the counting process were forced to stand outside the building with binoculars(?). Welcome to the culmination of the reality TV man-child presidency.

Trump is not an intelligent person, so he absorbs false information when he knows it is helpful to him. His instinct is already to prevent losing at all costs, like the kid on the playground who calls desperate fouls when he knows he doesn’t have a chance to win.
